Mendip Morris Men Overseas
The Mendip Morris Men reckon we’re the UK’s most travelled side. We’ve been taking the morris abroad almost every year for getting on for twenty years now.

Clevedon, one of the towns in the Mendip area, has strong twinning associations in France, Germany and Belgium and our first visit was to the German twin town of Ettlingen near Karlsruhe in the south of the country. Since then we have also visited the Czech Republic three times with side trips to Poland and Slovakia. We also believe we're the first morris side to have danced in the European Parliament building in Brussels. Strangely, most of our trips seem to alcohol related – with the wine witches in Germany; with Epernay, France’s champagne capital and with Middelkerke in Belgium where we regularly attend the annual beer festival. We have established lasting associations with overseas folklore clubs – the Ettlinger Rebhexen in Germany and the Odra Dance Group in Ostrava, Czech Republic

In February, 2006, we visited Ettlingen for the sixth time and in September we went back to Dolni Lomna in the Czech Republic. Only two foreign trips? Well, we did host a Ring Meeting in July!
